Ineos Automotive has revealed the Grenadier Helmsman Edition, a nautical-themed special version of its body-on-frame off-roader that goes on sale for the 2027 model year in both Station Wagon and Quartermaster Pickup forms. It was unveiled in the UK, where it starts at £70,995, and Ineos has confirmed the edition for its global markets.
What the Helmsman Edition changes
The nautical theme is largely confined to styling. A dark exterior accent package brings a black grille, dark skid plates and matte-black roof rails, along with unique 17-inch diamond-cut wheels and edition-specific badging. Buyers can choose Whiteout Blue metallic (previously offered on Arcane Works models), Eldoret Blue or Scottish White, with contrasting black or white roofs.
Inside, the Helmsman gets black leather seats with off-white inserts, carpet mats laid over the Grenadier's heavy-duty rubber flooring, ambient lighting and additional electrical outlets. Heated seats, front parking sensors and other equipment from the Smooth Pack are also included.
The hardware is unchanged
What hasn't changed may matter more to buyers. The Grenadier keeps its body-on-frame chassis, solid axles, permanent four-wheel drive, two-speed transfer case and locking differentials. In North America it uses a BMW-sourced 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six producing about 282 horsepower, matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
That hardware is central to the Grenadier's appeal among American buyers who find modern SUVs, even Jeeps, too polished. The Helmsman adds lifestyle trim without softening the mechanical package underneath, which is the sensible approach for a vehicle whose selling point is genuine off-road capability rather than the appearance of it.
US pricing and timing still open
Ineos has not announced US pricing or an exact US release date for the Helmsman Edition. The UK figure of £70,995 converts to roughly $93,800, and the model is expected to cost under $100,000 in the US. Those are not the same thing: the UK price is confirmed, while the US figure remains an expectation until Ineos publishes it.
The edition arrives as North America has become Ineos's largest market, accounting for more than 60 percent of global Grenadier sales since deliveries began there in 2024. The company delivered its 15,000th Grenadier in the US this year and now runs more than 40 dealer locations across the country.
First of a series of themed editions
The Helmsman is the first of what Ineos says will be a series of special editions, each inspired by the various elements the Grenadier was designed to take on. It follows the Quartermaster pickup's launch to broaden the platform's usefulness, and editions such as the Trialmaster, Fieldmaster and Black Edition that gave buyers different combinations of off-road equipment and creature comforts.
For buyers, the pattern is clear: Ineos is stretching a single platform across more variants rather than replacing it, and each themed edition trades on appearance and equipment rather than new mechanical hardware. Anyone waiting on US availability will need Ineos to confirm both the price and the on-sale date before the Helmsman can be ordered.
