Cadillac builds 11-unit Escalade-V tribute for F1 driver Sergio Perez, Mexico only

The Checo Perez Edition keeps the standard 682 hp supercharged V8 and adds signed, numbered plaques, but Cadillac has allocated none of the 11 SUVs to US buyers.

Cadillac has unveiled a Mexico-only limited edition of its Escalade-V honouring its Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez, with production capped at 11 vehicles to match his racing number. The Escalade-V Checo Perez Edition was revealed on October 19, 2026, and goes on sale at Mexican dealers from October 20.

Pricing is set at 4,099,000 Mexican pesos, roughly $222,500 at prevailing exchange rates. All 11 units are spoken for within Mexico, and Cadillac has not indicated that a second run or a US-market version is planned.

Mechanically unchanged from the standard Escalade-V

The tribute does not alter the drivetrain. It carries the same supercharged 6.2-litre V8 as the regular Escalade-V, producing 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The 0-60 mph time stays at 4.4 seconds.

Cadillac also left the V-Series chassis hardware intact: an active-valve exhaust, six-piston Brembo front brakes, an electronic limited-slip differential, Air Adaptive Ride Suspension, Magnetic Ride Control and V-Mode are all carried over. Buyers looking for extra output will not find it here, since nothing under the bonnet separates this edition from the vehicle already on sale.

Numbered plaques and signed details

The defining feature is literal: two numbered plaques, running from 1/11 through 11/11, reproduce Perez's own signature and are mounted on the B-pillar and centre console.

Elsewhere the changes are cosmetic. Cadillac blacked out the Escalade and V-Series badges, switched to monochrome Cadillac logos, fitted a carbon-fibre engine cover that remains visible rather than hidden, added sport pedals and programmed the mirrors to project V-Series graphics onto the pavement. Each buyer also receives an exclusive welcome kit.

V-Sport specification and colour choices

The edition is configured with the V-Sport package, which adds executive second-row seats with heating, ventilation, massage, folding trays and a rear command centre. Front seats also gain heating, ventilation and massage, backed by extensive active safety technology and two years of OnStar Premium with unlimited data.

Cadillac offers a mix of exterior configurations in white and black with contrasting interior tones that echo the colours it runs in its Formula 1 programme. The sources do not specify how many units are assigned to each colour combination.

Part of a wider F1-themed V-Series push

The Perez edition sits alongside other Formula 1-inspired V-Series models, including the CT5-V Blackwing F1 Collector Series, which features an upgraded supercharger, a six-speed manual transmission and performance suspension along with F1 branding throughout.

That contrast is worth noting for buyers: the CT5-V Blackwing F1 Collector Series changes hardware, while the Escalade-V tribute is a cosmetic and trim exercise. The Escalade-V Checo Perez Edition is therefore a collector's item rather than a performance variant, and its appeal rests on scarcity and the driver's signature rather than on any mechanical upgrade.

Omoda X revealed in China with night vision and PHEV or EV power

The mid-size crossover slots below the Omoda 9 with thermal imaging, 200mm of ground clearance and a choice of plug-in hybrid or electric drivetrains.

Omoda has unveiled the Omoda X, a mid-size crossover with an infrared night vision system and a choice of plug-in hybrid or electric power, at an event in Wuhu, China, on October 20. The reveal took place during the Chery Group's International User Summit, and the brand has not announced Australian availability, pricing or launch timing.

A tougher look for Omoda

The Omoda X introduces what the brand calls its Crossvolution design direction, blending a more upright, rugged stance with the angular styling of its newer crossovers. Omoda describes the result as a meeting of the dynamic tension of a sports car with the raw strength of an off-road vehicle.

The look is backed by pronounced wheel arches, extensive lower-body cladding and sharply creased panels, with jagged daytime running lights and lightning-like graphics at the rear. The car shown in Wuhu wore 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres.

Size and capability

Slotting below the Omoda 9, the Omoda X measures 4650mm long, 1910mm wide and 1720mm tall, putting it roughly in the same bracket as a Toyota RAV4. It offers 200mm of ground clearance and a wading depth of more than 700mm.

Omoda claims a towing capacity of up to 1800kg and a roof load capacity of 75kg. Buyers will be able to choose between two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Night vision and cabin tech

The Omoda X marks a first for Omoda Jaecoo with an infrared thermal imaging system, which the brand says has a recognition range of up to 90 metres.

Inside, the Mecha Command Cockpit pairs a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a 13.2-inch central touchscreen, and keeps physical toggle switches and rotary controls for functions such as air-conditioning and drive mode selection. Omoda claims 39 storage spaces throughout the cabin.

Full specifications have not been detailed, so battery size, charging rates, power and torque outputs and the range figures for both the PHEV and EV versions are still to be confirmed. The night vision feature is a genuine differentiator in this class, though its real-world usefulness will depend on how the system performs in traffic and poor weather rather than on the claimed recognition distance alone.

Where it fits in Australia

Omoda Jaecoo's local operation previewed the vehicle ahead of the Wuhu event without confirming it for sale in Australia. For Australian buyers, the brand's next confirmed additions are the Omoda 4 and Omoda 7, both due in the first half of 2027 after their local unveiling at Everything Electric Sydney in September.

The Omoda 4 is a small SUV aimed at models such as the Hyundai Kona and the Chery Group's own Jaecoo J5, while the Omoda 7 moves into the mid-size class occupied by the Toyota RAV4 and Jaecoo J7. That queue matters for anyone eyeing the X: the brand has a full pipeline of confirmed models to launch here first, so the X would likely sit behind them if it is eventually greenlit for Australia.
