Alpine has revealed the A310 Vision, a low-slung concept car that reimagines the French brand's 1971 A310 grand tourer for the electric era. The design study makes its public debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, where it joins a wave of retro revivals from Citroën, Renault, Fiat and Peugeot.
Alpine is careful to frame the car as an independent design exercise rather than a preview of a production model, so there is no on-sale date and no price. What the concept does confirm is the direction of the brand's new Alpine Performance Platform, the architecture intended to underpin its future electric sports cars.
Proportions borrowed from two eras
The concept measures 4.55 metres (179.1 inches) long, 2.03 metres (79.9 in) wide at the rear and just 1.18 metres (46.5 in) tall, riding on a 2.45-metre (96.5-in) wheelbase. That stance puts it in the same visual territory as a Porsche 911, which is clearly the benchmark.
The design blends cues from both generations of the original A310. The early four-cylinder car contributes its cleaner lines, while the later V6 version inspired wider fenders and a more muscular rear. The result is a retro-futuristic interpretation rather than a faithful recreation of either car.
Alpine has dressed the body in aluminium over a black lower section with organic, Formula 1-inspired surfaces. The brand's arrow-shaped design language appears in the wheels, and the cabin is semi-transparent.
Details aimed at enthusiasts
Several touches suggest Alpine designed this one for people who actually look at cars. The headlights drop down from the front end when the car starts. An S-shaped channel in the hood references racing aerodynamics, a central blade runs toward the rear, and the two-piece rear wing incorporates transparent elements. The blade-shaped taillights double as aerodynamic devices.
The interior is only glimpsed through the glazed cockpit, but organically shaped seats and bold colour combinations are visible. Alpine also says the cabin carries physical controls inspired by high-end audio equipment, a quiet argument against the all-touchscreen interiors that dominate new electric cars.
Built on the platform behind the next A110
The A310 Vision was developed around the Alpine Performance Platform, or APP, the new architecture meant to underpin the brand's future electric sports cars, including the next-generation A110. Alpine says the platform gives designers more freedom over proportions and packaging, and the concept is a demonstration of that flexibility.
No powertrain specifications have been disclosed, so there is no horsepower figure, battery capacity or performance estimate to report.
A one-off, for now
Alpine describes the A310 Vision as an independent design study, not a confirmed production preview. Whether it becomes a limited-run special or a full production model is an open question.
The concept still matters to the brand's wider plan. Alpine is expanding beyond the A110 with the A290 hot hatchback and the A390 fastback-styled SUV, and the APP platform leaves the door open to additional electric sports cars. The A310 Vision shows what the company's designers can do with that architecture, even if this exact car never reaches showrooms.
A production version would give Alpine a more distinctive alternative to the established German sports cars, in the same spirit as the original A310's more comfortable take on the formula. For now, though, the A310 Vision is a statement of intent rather than a car you can order.
